Men's Basketball Gears Up For Conference Opener

PENSACOLA, Fla. - West Florida (7-5) brings their 6-1 home record to the table in this Saturday's Gulf South Conference opener against West Georgia (6-6). Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m. Listen live on AM 1620 or on sportsjuice.com with Arty Goodman and Jake Fish beginning at 2:15 p.m.
The Argonauts are coming off a two-game win streak against St. Thomas Aquinas and Loyola-New Orleans last Friday and Saturday. Senior newcomer Barry Durosier (Orlando, Fla./Niagara Univ.) leads the team with an outstanding 24.7 points per game, and is eighth in the NCAA Division II in scoring. He is shooting 50.8 percent from the field, including 44.9 percent from three-point range and 83.9% from the line.
Senior Marcus Grant (Axis, Ala./Faulkner State CC) has also come on strong as of late. He averages 9.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest. Grant scored a season high 18 points with eight rebounds, seven steals and four assists in UWF's come from behind win over St. Thomas.
Sophomore Deondre Boynton (Pompano Beach, Fla./North Broward Prep.) also averages 9.8 points and 4.7 assists per contest.
West Georgia defeated Arkansas-Monticello at home last Saturday, 77-70. The Wolves are led by Terrence Hundley who averages 16.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest.
