West Florida Sweeps Northwest Missouri State

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Brett McCullough (Cantonment, Fla./ Lipscomb University) threw a complete game four-hit shutout as West Florida (16-4) completed the four-game sweep over Northwest Missouri State (3-5) Wednesday evening at Pelican Park on the UWF campus.

McCullough, the reigning Gulf South Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week, tossed seven solid innings in the second game of the double header to pick up his fourth win of the season. He recorded eight strike outs in the game and allowed only six Bearcats to reach base safely; on four hits, no walks and a pair of Argonaut errors, both in the first inning.

After the error riddle first inning the Argonauts defense was stellar backing up McCullough's performance, as they turned two double plays in the game and did not allowed a single runner to move beyond first base after the second inning.

Offensively West Florida produced one run in the second inning and two runs in the third, which was more then enough to secure the win.

Kyle DeBos (Panama City, Fla./ Gulf Coast C.C.) crossed home plate for the Argonauts lone run in the second inning. DeBos reach on a single and would advance to third following a pair of Northwest Missouri State errors. He scored on a wild pitch that the Bearcats catcher was unable to block.

In the third inning Peter Antoske (Olmsted Township, Ohio/ St. Edwards H.S.) and Bo Williams (Ocala, Fla./ Pensacola Junior College) would get things started with a pair of lead off singles. Antoske would score on a close play at the plate, which was set up by a ground ball hit to the second baseman by Lee Huggins (Bay Minette, Ala./ Faulkner State C.C.). Jason Kohl (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/ Pensacola Junior College) was able to drive in Williams from third on a line drive double to left field, giving West Florida the 3-0 lead.

With the victory, the Argonauts increase their winning streak to six games and will look to extend it went the host a Brevard College in a double header on Monday at Pelican Park beginning at 3 p.m. Fans can follow the action at goargos.com by clicking the "Live Stats" link.
