Box Score

PENACOLA, Fla. - The 13th ranked West Florida Argonauts (18-4) swept a double header from Brevard College (11-8) following a 3-1 win in game two. Kit Powell dominated the Tornados striking out 10 through seven innings, and Clay Wallace picked up two RBI's en route to the win.

Brevard took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Luke Lovelace led off with a single. He advanced to third on a single by Justin Frady. Lovelace scored on a sacrifice fly to deep left by Spencer Linn.

The Argos answered quickly in the bottom of the first. After Brevard's starting pitcher Lovelace retired Jon Reed, UWF strung together three consecutive hits. Peter Antoske and Bo Williams each singled. Clay Wallace drilled a double to left center scoring both Antoske and Williams to give UWF a 2-1 advantage. West Florida stranded runners on first and third.

In the bottom of the second inning, Reed walked with two outs and nobody on base. Brevard first baseman Frady let a pick-off throw by Lovelace get by him, and Reed advanced to second. Antoske made the error hurt when his single up the middle scored Reed to give UWF a 3-1 lead.

Powell (2-1) shut down Brevard after the first inning. He allowed just one run on five hits, with two walks and 10 strikeouts. Lovelace suffered the loss. He also went the distance allowing two earned runs on seven hits. He walked three and fanned four through six innings.

In the two games combined, UWF struck out 23, allowed two runs and 11 hits. The Argos moved one step up in the ABCA Top 30 poll from 14th to 13th. West Florida has won 18 of their last 19 games, including eight straight.
