No. 5 Argonauts Shutout No. 11 Bobcats

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Fifth-ranked West Florida swept the doubles competition and won three long singles matches en route to a 9-0 win over 11th ranked Georgia College and State University on Friday at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex. West Florida (14-5) posted their 10th shutout of the season, while Georgia College and State University (14-5) lost their fourth straight.
Two of the three doubles matches featured four of the top 25 doubles teams in the nation, and West Florida came out on top in both matches. The sixth-ranked doubles team of Tammy Kevey (Auckland, New Zealand) and Mandy Septoe (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) won their 11th consecutive match with a win in the first position.
In the first position singles match, fourth-ranked Suzana Cavalcante (Sao Paulo, Brazil) dropped the second set, but roared back with a 6-0 third set win to improve to 12-3 on the season. Paola Arevalo (Cali, Colombia) lost the first set of her fifth position match before earning a come-from behind win. Anne Claire Beard (Villevaude, France) dropped the second set in the sixth position, but won in a tiebreaker to improve to 12-5 in singles.
West Florida will host 20th ranked St. Edward's on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
