UWF Men's Tennis Wins Third Match in 36 hours

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The fifth ranked Argos improved to 13-2 on the season, with wins over Webber International, Anderson University, and Berry College in a 36 hour span. The Argos shut out Webber International by a 5-0 score on Sunday, and then turned around and defeated the 18th ranked Anderson University team by an 8-1 score in the first of two matches on Monday. The Monday afternoon match was a 6-1 victory over 10th ranked Berry College.
The three wins in two days, gave the Argos 13 wins in the last 14 matches. In the win over Berry, Nicholas Barrientos and Luis Arboleda led the way with straight set wins at number one and two singles. Meanwhile, the Argos took two of the three doubles matches, with Nicolas Barrientos & Patrick Bateman defeating Marcelo Lebrao & Adam Clifton by an 8-6 score, and Luiz Bernardi & Jose Ycaza defeated Marcelo Peterlini & Daniel Mician by an 8-3 score.
In singles, Barrientos and Eduardo Cavasotti are a combined 8-1 at the number one singles spot, and Barrientos is also 5-1 at number two singles. Meanwhile, Patrick Bateman, who is 6-0 in singles this season, teamed up with Barrientos to win three straight doubles matches at the number two spot and they improved to 12-1 on the year as a doubles team.
At the number three singles, UWF's Jose Ycaza defeated Marcelo Lebrao by a 7-5,6-0 score, and Carlos Zamora defeated Daniel Mician at number four singles by a 6-2,6-0 score. West Florida plays again on Tuesday vs. Cameron in a match up of two top 10 ranked teams. The action begins at noon, as both the men and women play on the UWF Campus.
