UWF Men's Soccer Sweeps GSC Weekly Awards

Birmingham, Ala. -- Junior Thomas Olmsted (Lake City, Fla./Troy) earned his second consecutive GSC Defender of the Week award and senior Rafael Segal (Rishon Lezion, Israel/Mercer County CC) earned his first career GSC Player of the Week honor as UWF swept the weekly awards for the second time this season. On the season the Argos have won five out of the six weekly awards handed out thus far.

In two matches for Segal, he totaled three goals and an assist with seven points. Against Rollins on Friday night he tacked on an insurance goal late in the match as the Argos defeated the Tars 2-0. On Sunday, Segal put up a season high five points with two goals and an assist for the Argos in their 3-1 win over Florida Southern.

Olmsted appeared in only one match this week to lockdown his second consecutive Defender of the Week award. On Friday against Rollins, Olmsted recorded a season high nine saves against a Tars team which fired off 23 shots in the match to notch his second shutout of the season, 2-0.

This weekend the Argos will take their four game win streak on the road as they travel to Tampa, Fla. to take on No. 25 University of Tampa on Friday night and Nova Southeastern University on Sunday afternoon.
