Materne Named to the All-GSC Tournament Team

PENSACOLA , Fla. — University of West Florida center fielder Jack Materne was named to the 2009 Gulf South Conference All-Tournament Team, which was announced May 8th. The junior out of Bluewater Bay, Fla. started all four games while batting a solid .467 (7-for-13) to help the Argos out to a 2-2 record and a third place finish in the tournament.
Materne led the Argos throughout the tournament knocking three doubles with three runs scored and five RBI. He had atleast one RBI in each of the four games including a 2-for-4, two RBI performance in the Argos 11-4 win over Harding in game two of the tournament. Materne represented the lone spot on the team for the Argonauts which included four members from the 2009 GSC Champions, Southern Arkansas.
