Duncan Earns Third Consecutive GSC Player of the Week

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Standout forward, Shakira Duncan, of the top ranked University of West Florida women’s soccer team claims her third consecutive Gulf South Conference Player of the Week award. The award marks her fourth this season, the most among any player in the GSC.

In the Argos lone match of the week against Lambuth, Duncan shattered two single season records. With her first assist of the match she broke Dernelle Mascall and Shaneka Gordon’s record of 58 total points in a season, finishing the game with a season total of 65. Her first goal of the match also broke Mascall’s record for goals scored in a season previously held at 24. Duncan would finish the match and the regular season with 27 total goals scored.

Friday afternoon at 1:30pm CT the women will take to the pitch against Christian Brothers University in the semifinal match of the GSC Tournament. The tournament will be held at Brosnaham Park in Pensacola Friday and Sunday, November 6th and 8th.
