Argos Climb to No. 2 in National Rankings
UWF on A Five Game Winnng Streak
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida baseball team climbed to No. 2 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper national rankings and remained at No. 19 in the College Baseball Lineup rankings. West Florida also ranks No. 9 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association national rankings and No. 2 in the South region. The Argos are fresh off a series sweep over the Rollins Tars and are currently riding a five game winning streak.
The Argos jumped from No. 4 to No. 2 in the CBN rankings grabbing 452 points this week. Sitting atop the rankings is Central Missouri, who has not played yet this season, jumping from No. 2 last week grabbing 460 points. Gulf South Conference opponents Delta State and North Alabama are ranked by CBN No. 16 and No. 26 respectively.
The CBL rankings again did not change much as West Florida remained No. 19. Still atop the CBL rankings is Tampa who boasts a 6-0 record. North Alabama remains No. 9 in the CBL rankings and is the only other GSC school in the top 30.
UWF ranks No. 9 in the NCBWA national rankings receiving 253 points. Gulf South Conference opponent North Alabama is the only other GSC school ranked in the top 25 and sits at No. 13 with 179 points. Regional opponent Tampa jumped from tied No. 6 to No. 1, receiving 361 points.
West Florida is ranked second in the region behind only Tampa. The Argos received 67 points and one first place vote while the Spartans tallied 88 points and seven first place votes. GSC opponents North Alabama and Delta State are the only other schools from the conference and sit at No. 3 and No. 5 respectively.
