West Florida's Scott Named to All-GSC Team

Senior Earns Second Straight All-Conference Pick

DESTIN, Fla. – Senior Sher’Ryan Scott (Fort Deposit, Ala./Wallace State CC-Selma) of the West Florida women’s basketball team was named to the All-Gulf South Conference second team at the GSC Basketball Tournament Welcoming Party at HarborWalk Village in Destin, Fla. on Wednesday night.  The Argonauts will begin play at the conference tournament, held at Northwest Florida State College, with a quarterfinal game against West Alabama on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Scott was one of 10 players named to the All-GSC Team, marking her second straight selection.  The senior leads the Argonauts and ranks sixth in the GSC with 14.2 points per game, and she has totaled 687 points in just two years at UWF.  Scott is now just the seventh player in school history to earn two all-conference nods, with the most recent being Amy Drake in 2009 and 2010.

Scott’s highlight of the season came in a 33-point performance against Alabama-Huntsville at home on Feb. 11.  In the game, she scored 16 field goals, tying a school record.  Her 33 points was also the most for an Argonaut since 2006.  Not only did Scott lead the team offensively, she also was a big contributor on defense, highlighted by a career high nine steals in the regular season finale against Valdosta State on Feb. 25.

UWF, the No. 5 seed in the tournament, will face No. 4 seed West Alabama on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to face either Delta State or Christian Brothers in the semifinals on Saturday.  For information on all UWF Athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
