Argos Wrap up Regular Season with Win over Lions
West Florida Splits the 2012 Regular Season Finale with North Alabama

FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of West Florida softball team snapped a three game losing streak in game two of a doubleheader with North Alabama, taking the 10-1 win in six innings after dropping game one, 8-0 in five innings.
The Argonauts wrap up the 2012 regular season with a 32-22 record overall and a 16-12 mark in the Gulf South Conference while the Lions sit at 19-24 on the year and 8-20 in the league standings.
GAME ONE: West Florida 0, North Alabama 8 (5 inn.)
The Argos couldn’t muster up the hits needed to take down the Lions in game one, dropping an 8-0 decision in just five innings.
North Alabama scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, two more in the third and four more in the third for the 8-0 win while blanking the West Florida hitters.
UWF managed just three hits, one each by Kasie Buckley (Little Rock, Miss./East Central CC), Lauren Correia (Mary Esther, Fla./Fort Walton Beach HS) and Tiffany Duncan (Oneonta, Ala./Jefferson Davis CC).
Jordan Ratliff (St. Petersburg, Mich./Owens CC) took the loss, going just 2.2 innings while giving up four runs on seven hits. Ashliegh McLean (McKinney, Texas/McLennan CC) threw the final 1.2 innings of the game, allowing the final four runs on six hits.
GAME TWO: West Florida 10, North Alabama 1 (6 inn.)
UWF started off strong in game two and added to their lead with a Crystal Thompson (Bonifay, Fla./Gulf Coast CC) homer late in the game to take the 10-1 win in just six innings.
Buckley started off the Argo scoring in the first with a stand up triple to left field that scored Emma Johansen (Johnston City, Ill./Gulf Coast State College) for the 1-0 lead. Thompson then singled home Buckley as the Argos went up 2-0 after one.
The Lions tacked on a run in the bottom of the first on two hits and a UWF error as the game stayed 2-1 heading into the fourth.
Pitcher Sara Scott (Tallahassee, Fla./Tallahassee CC) smacked the two RBI double to left center with Buckley singling two batters later to drive home Scott and give the Argos a 5-1 advantage after four innings of play.
UWF picked up five more runs in the top of the sixth with Thompson’s two run bomb to left field sealing the 10-1 win for the Argos.
Buckley finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs as Thompson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs of her own.
Scott earned her 11th win of the year going all six innings allowing just six hits and striking out three while allowing no earned runs.
