No. 10 West Florida Trails No. 3 North Alabama at GSC Championships
UNA Leads by Four Strokes Heading Into Final Rounds

CALERA, Ala. – The No. 10 West Florida men’s golf team led after the first round of the Gulf South Conference Championships at Timberline Golf Club on Monday, but in the second round No. 3 North Alabama caught up with the Argonauts to take the lead. The Lions (299-298 - 597) lead the Argonauts (294-307 - 601) by four strokes heading into Tuesday’s final round.
West Florida was led by senior Ryan Black (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Lincoln Park Academy), who matched his second best round of the year with a 70 in the first 18 holes. Black (70-75 - 145) is 3-over par and alone in second place, just four strokes behind individual leader Nate Anderson (69-72 - 141) from Valdosta State.
Last year’s GSC individual medalist, Carlos Rodriguez (Cali, Colombia/Austin Peay), is also in the top 10 after the first two rounds. The senior is 8-over par (77-73 - 150) and tied for sixth place. Fellow Argonaut Thomas Guste-Pedersen (Helle, Norway/Frank Phillips) is tied for ninth at 10-over (73-79 - 152).
Freshman Juan Miguel Heredia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Jacksonville State) had a strong first round and finished the day 12-over (74-80 - 154), and he was followed in the Argonaut lineup by freshman Adam Whipp (Sydney, Australia/Pittwater HS) at 18-over (79-81 - 160).
