Johansen and Scott Bring Home All-GSC Honors

Juniors Named to Second Team All-Gulf South Conference Lists

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of West Florida outfielder Emma Johansen and designated player Sarah Scott have been named to the All-Gulf South Conference Second Team, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.

Johansen currently leads the Argonauts in most offensive categories including batting average (.385), on base percentage (.453), runs scored (41) and stolen bases (27). The Johnston City, Ill. native has also been outstanding in the outfield for head coach Tami Cyr, accumulating a fielding percentage of .969.

Scott (Tallahassee, Fla./Tallahassee CC) earns a spot on the list as a designated player after being one of the most consistent hitters in the UWF lineup. The junior ranks in the top five on the squad in batting average (.288), slugging percentage (.417), on base percentage (.347), hits (45) and RBIs (36). Scott also has 11 doubles and three homeruns on the year.

No. 1 Valdosta State’s Courtney Albritton took home both Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors after hitting .445 with 13 home runs while teammate Alanna Hadley was named Pitcher of the Year after dominating nearly every pitching category including ERA (0.66), wins (22) and strikeouts (121). The Blazers also earned Coach of the Year with Thomas Macera.
