Argos Field Eight on All-GSC Team

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The West Florida baseball team landed eight players on the All-Gulf South Conference team, it was announced by the GSC on Tuesday. The Argonauts eight selections ranks second in the GSC, fielding three players on the first team and five on the second team.

Josh Huggins (Bay Minette, Ala./Faulkner State CC (Baldwin County HS), Taye Larry (Panama City, Fla./Wallace State CC-Dothan (Mosley HS) and Bobby Parker (Tallahassee, Fla./Alabama Southern CC (Lawton Chiles HS) make up the Argos All-GSC first team selections. Huggins, a 2011 All-GSC second team selection, is batting .307 and leads UWF with 13 doubles, six homeruns and 31 RBIs. Larry leads the GSC and UWF with 33 stolen bases and posts a .313 average with 11 doubles, one triple and one homerun. Parker tops the GSC and UWF in saves with 13 and has been nearly unhittable holding opponents to a .185 average with a 1.04 ERA.

Blake Barber (LaGrange, Ga./Shelton State CC (Troup HS), Dustin Saulmon (Panama City, Fla./Alabama Southern CC (A. Crawford Mosley HS), Brian Ellington (Gainesville, Fla./Florida State College at Jacksonville (Oak Hall HS), Jake Stephens (Marietta, Ga./Northwest Florida State College (Lassiter HS) and Jordan DeLorenzo (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park HS) landed themselves on the All-GSC second team. Barber has played solid defense for the Argos this season and leads UWF with 32 RBIs. Saulmon has been consistent offensively this year for UWF batting .306 with 12 doubles, one triple, one homerun and 17 stolen bases. Ellington has been a force on the hill posting a 6-3 record with 3.93 ERA and leads the GSC with 11.78 strikeouts per game. Stephens has been in the top of the Argos rotation and posts a 5-3 record with a 3.61 ERA. DeLorenzo has been stellar as a freshman on the hill holding opponents to a .271 average with a 3.11 ERA and a 6-2 record.
