INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The West Florida baseball team will enter post season competition ranked No. 6 in the NCAA South Region rankings. UWF is 32-15 overall with a 27-15 regional record.

UWF fell from No. 4 to No. 6 after dropping 2-3 games last weekend on the road to Gulf South Conference opponent Valdosta State. The Argonauts will look to get hot as they enter the post season this weekend in Rome, Ga. at the GSC tournament. West Florida will look to capture the programs second GSC championship and defend their 2011 National Championship.

Eight teams from the South Region will earn a trip to the NCAA Division II South Regional, scheduled for May 17-21. Champions from each of the three conferences in the region, the GSC, SSC and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), will automatically qualify. The five remaining at-large bids are awarded to the next highest ranked teams in the region. The top-ranked team is eligible to host the tournament, providing it placed a bid to host and has adequate facilities and accommodations for teams and fans.

UWF will face Alabama-Huntsville in the first round of the GSC tournament Friday May 4 at 1 p.m. ET. For information on all UWF Athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
