SKILLMAN, N.J. – Argonauts Kevin Ducros and Bruno Savi have been named ITA All-Americans in singles and doubles; it was announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) today. It is the third time that Ducros has been named an All-American in singles and his second time in doubles. Savi receives the honors in his first year as an Argonaut.

The ITA, which is the governing body for collegiate tennis, released both the men’s and women’s All-America teams today. To be named to the team in singles, a player must finish in the top 20 of the final ITA rankings. The final top 10 doubles teams receive All-America status.

UWF junior Kevin Ducros (Aix-en-Provence, France) was named to the All-America team in singles for the third time, having received the honor in 2009 and 2010. It is the second time he has received the honor in doubles. In 2010, he was named an All-American with partner Leandro Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil). Ducros medically redshirted in 2011.

Ducros anchored the Argos in the spring, seeing playing time at the Nos. 1 and 2 singles positions. He compiled an overall singles record of 12-7 and was 5-0 at the No. 2 line. He tallied a 3-0 record against regular season Gulf South Conference opponents. Ducros finished the year ranked as the No. 7 singles player in the nation and No. 4 in the South Region.

In doubles, Ducros teamed with UWF sophomore Bruno Savi (Santana do Livramento, Brazil). The duo went 25-5 this spring, with all matches being played at the No. 1 line. Ducros and Savi were 6-1 this season against nationally ranked opponents. The doubles tandem entered the Campbell’s/ITA College Tennis Rankings at No. 2 on March 28th and held that position through the end of the year, earning All-America honors. They also finished the year as the No. 2 ranked doubles team in the South Region.

Savi also received the All-American status in singles. In his first year as an Argo, Savi went 24-3 and won his last 17 matches. He tallied an 11-1 record at the No. 2 singles position and was 4-0 in regular season conference play. He was 8-1 against nationally ranked opponents.

The 2012 UWF men’s tennis team were named Gulf South Conference Champions for the ninth time and reached the finals of the NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis Championships. The Argos finished the season ranked No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the South Region. For information on all UWF Athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
