GAMES NOTES: Men's and women's cross country
GSC Men’s Runner of the Week set to compete in Huntsville, Ala. this weekend

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men’s and women’s cross country teams will head to Huntsville, Ala. Saturday for the Fleet Feet Invitational at Sharon Johnston Park. The men will run at 9 a.m. CST while the women will follow at 9:45 a.m. CST.
While Gulf South Conference opponent Alabama-Huntsville will play host to the meet, fellow GSC members North Alabama and Delta State (women only) will give the Argonauts a look at some conference competition early on in the season.

Sykes earns third career GSC Runner of the Week honors
Senior captain Martinique Sykes set a personal-best time (26:12) at the USF Invite on the 8,000-meter course at Golden Gate Park. Sykes bettered his time by 23 seconds as he cruised to a 24th place finish, helping the team to a fourth-place overall finish at the meet.
Haden sets personal-best time at the USF Invite
Sophomore Cody Haden set a personal-best time in San Francisco, Calif. last weekend to kick off the season. Haden was named All-GSC Second Team last season as a freshman and looks to continue to make an impact of the men’s cross country team this fall.
UWF women ranked third in the south region in preseason USTFCCCA rankings
The University of West Florida women’s cross country team were preseason ranked third in the south region by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Argonauts made their first NCAA Championship last season led by GSC Freshman on the Year Kelley Bahn.
Freshmen make statement for women’s team at USF Invite
First-year runners Chelsea Humbert and Virna Trinidad wasted no time to make their presence known on the Argonaut cross country team. Humbert and Trinidad finished fourth and fifth, respectively, for the Argonauts in San Francisco, Calif.
