Women's soccer team moves up to No. 4 in national poll
Argos ranked in the top 5 after winning two on the road

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The West Florida women’s soccer team moved up to No. 4 in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tires Division II rankings. The Argonauts (6-0, 2-0 Gulf South Conference) remained the top team in the South Region.
"It’s a good sign of how hard we’ve worked thus far,” UWF coach Joe Bartlinski said.
After going from unranked to No. 7 in last weeks poll, UWF went on the road to open Gulf South Conference play. The Argos defeated Union (Tenn.) 2-0 and then-ranked No. 21 North Alabama 4-1. UNA dropped to No. 22 in the latest poll and was the only other GSC school that was ranked.
The top six teams in each region advance to the postseason and the top two teams receive a first-round bye. The Argos have 12 games left on the regular-season schedule, including an Oct. 18 meeting with No. 15 Armstrong.
"It’s early in the year,” Bartlinski said. “I’d prefer to be ranked No. 4 later in the year when it comes to seedings."
UWF will play Christian Brothers on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the UWF soccer fields.
