GAME NOTES: Argos defend national ranking at home
UWF to take on conference rivals Christian Brothers and Delta State at home

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The West Florida women's soccer team will play its first game on the UWF campus this weekend against Christian Brothers at 7:30 p.m Friday. The Argonauts then face Delta State at the UWF Soccer Complex at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Argos were ranked No. 4 in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tires Division II poll after sweeping a weekend road trip with a pair of conference-opening wins against Union and defending GSC champion North Alabama. Both matches will feature live audio and stats on www.GoArgos.com.

Early Conference Success
The Argos have found success early in the conference season, leading the GSC with 6 goals and a 6 goal-per-game average in GSC matches. UWF is second with 33 shots (tied for first with 16.50 shots per game), third with a 0.50 goals against average and tied for first atop the standings with a 2-0 record against GSC opponents.
Bush leads UWF attack
Transfer Shelby Bush was named the GSC Player of the Week on Sept. 18. Bush leads the Argos with 6 goals, 20 shots, 16 shots on goal, and is tied for the team lead with 2 assists. In the conference she is ranked third in shots, tied for third in goals and tied for sixth in assists. She is tied for second with 2 game-winning goals.
Iron Women
Senior Tori Fish has started 45 consecutive games for the Argos dating back to the 2010 season. Senior Rachel Cutts has started 27 consecutive games dating back to 2010, and sophomore Kelly Andres has started every game of her career at UWF with 24 starts.
Shutdown Defense
UWF successfully shut down UNA’s conference-leading scorer Chloe Roberts last weekend. Leading the defense was Taylor Harbison with help from Rachel Cutts. Two-time defending GSC Defender of the Week Sarah Story blocked a penalty kick by Roberts and recorded eight saves and one shutout during the Argos’ road trip.
