GAME NOTES: UWF cross country plays host to Gulf Coast Stampede
Argonauts will compete on their home course this weekend

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men’s and women’s cross country teams will play host to the Gulf Coast Stampede at the Escambia Country Equestrian Center in Pensacola, Fla. this weekend. This will be the only home meet of the season for the Argonauts. The women will begin Saturday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 a.m. and the men will start at 8 a.m.

Sykes Twins Look for Improvement from Last Season’s Home Meet
Last season Martinique Sykes and Dominique Sykes finished third and seventh, respectively, at the 2011 Gulf Coast Stampede. The twins finished 16 seconds apart at the UWF home meet leading the Argonauts to a runner-up team finish. The duo will look to lead their team to a first-place finish this weekend on the 8,000-meter course.
Sophomore Runners Get Second Crack at the Equestrian Center Course
Last season men’s cross country freshman runners Roman Kowalski, Chris Roach and Cody Haden all finished in the top-20 at the 2011 Gulf Coast Stampede. Women’s cross country runner Kelley Bahn finished 16th as a freshman.
Seignemartin Looks to Continue Her Personal-Best Streak
Senior Sabrina Seignemartin has set three-consecutive personal best times to start the season. Seignemartin set back-to-back personal-best times on a 5,000-meter course to start her senior year. Last week in Mobile, Ala. the senior set her personal-best time on a 6,000-meter course at the Azalea City Classic (24:07.47).
