HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The West Florida women’s soccer team extended its winning streak to nine games with a 4-1 win at Alabama-Huntsville Friday afternoon.

The Argonauts’ Chelsea Palmer (Plano, Texas/Tyler JC) played a part in every goal, recording one goal and three assists. Leading scorer Shelby Bush (Shalimar, Fla./Darton) recorded her eighth goal of the season and Daniela Cruz (San Jose, Costa Rica/University of Costa Rica) and Monica Malavassi (San Jose, Costa Rica/University of Costa Rica) each picked up their second goal in the victory.

The Argos (9-0, 5-0 Gulf South Conference) didn’t waste any time scoring. Within the first two minutes of the game, Alex Pickrell (Pace, Fla./Pace HS) sent a corner kick to Palmer who crossed it to Bush who scored on a header at the 1:43 mark.

Palmer picked up her second assist of the day when she served a through ball to Cruz who scored at the 22:19 mark.

In the second half, Bush returned the favor to Palmer. Bush sent a pass to Palmer who took advantage of the opportunity for her fifth goal of the season to put UWF up 3-0 with 63:31 on the clock.

UAH (4-5, 0-3) prevented a shutout when Khadijah Jannah served a pass to Cady Reisman who scored at the 68:48 mark.

The Argos had a good opportunity to extend their lead to three at the 79:13 mark, but a penalty-kick attempt by Bush was blocked and Malavassi was unable to secure the rebound off the keeper.

Malavassi made up for it less than a minute later when Palmer recorded her third assist of the day, sending a pass to Malavassi who dribbled around the keeper before scoring her second goal of the season with 79:56 on the clock.

Sarah Story (Hoover, Ala./Darton) recorded five saves on six shots on goal, and UWF outshot UAH 26-9 on the day.

The Argos have given up more than one goal just once this season.

UWF will play Shorter on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET in Rome, Ga. before heading home for a homecoming match against West Alabama on Oct. 5 and a big match against No. 9 Armstrong on Oct. 8.
