UWF women's cross country finishes 11th at FSU Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of West Florida women’s cross country team finished 11th out of 18 teams at the Florida State Cross Country Invitational on Friday. The meet was hosted by Florida State University and was held at Apalachee Regional Park.
“We really challenged our team today to come to this meet and run in a very strong field,” head coach John Bergen said. “We ran well against some great competition on a relatively challenging course.”
Junior Beatriz Labrada set a personal-best time and finished 61st overall (24:30.50). Labrada crossed the finish line third for UWF and bettered her previous time on a 6,000-meter course by more than 46 seconds.
“I was very proud of Beatriz today,” Bergen said. “She ran one of the best races of her career at a very competitive meet today.”
UWF will head to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Chili Pepper Festival races next weekend before heading to Hoover, Ala. the following weekend for the Gulf South Conference Championships. For information on all UWF athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
