Gulf South Conference honors junior Renea Porsch for her performance at Choctaw Open

BIRNINGHAM, Ala. – University of West Florida women’s cross country runner Renea Porsch has been named this week’s Gulf South Conference Women’s Runner of the Week.
Porsch finished 11th overall (19:17.17) in a field of 166 runners at the 2012 Choctaw Open this past weekend. This was the fourth consecutive race that Porsch has led the Argonauts as the first UWF runner across the finish line.
“Renea gives everything she has during our workouts and as a result of that she has been performing consistently well this year,” head coach John Bergen said. “This is a great honor for her, and it is very nice to see her starting to get recognition for her efforts.”
The Land O’ Lakes, Fla. native earned All-GSC Second Team honors and All-South Region Second Team honors last season and was also a member of the GSC Fall All-Academic Team.
