GAME NOTES: Argos wrap up regular season on the road

UWF to play West Georgia in a nonconference match Friday before taking on Valdosta State in the regular season finale

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The West Florida Argonauts will finish the regular season on the road this weekend with a match against West Georgia Friday at 7 p.m. ET and a match against Valdosta State Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET.

UWF moved up to No. 3 in the nation in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tires poll and maintained their No. 1 rankings in the NSCAA and the NCAA South Region rankings.

UWF is 10-0-0 against UWG all-time and has shut out the Wolves in their last two meetings. Earlier this season, UWF defeated UWG 4-0 in Pensacola on Oct. 12 in a GSC match. Friday’s game is a nonconference match.

The Argos are 2-0-1 against VSU all-time. UWF won the first-ever meeting between the two teams last season 5-0 on Oct. 2. In the GSC semifinals, the Argos tied the Blazers 2-2 during regulation before losing 5-3 on penalty kicks. This season, UWF defeated VSU 1-0 at home on Oct. 14 in a nonconference match. Sunday’s game will be a GSC match and the Argos’ final game of the season.

Story’s shutout streak at four

Three-time GSC Defender of the week Sarah Story has recorded four consecutive shutouts, all coming against GSC oponents. The streak is tied for the longest since UWF shut out four consecutive opponents from Sept. 30-Oct. 7 last season.
The longest shutout streak for UWF is nine. The Argos acheived the feat once in 2007 and once in 2008.
Story has recorded eight shutouts this season, putting her in seventh all-time for the most shutouts in a single season in UWF history. That puts her in fourth for the most shutouts in a career by a UWF keeper.

Iron Women

Senior Tori Fish has started 55 consecutive games for the Argos dating back to the 2010 season.
Senior Rachel Cutts has started 37 consecutive games dating back to 2010.
Sophomore Kelly Andres has started every game of her career at UWF with 34 starts.

Argos dominating GSC statistics

At least three Argo attackers are ranked in the top 10 in every GSC offensive statistical category, while Argo keeper Sarah Story is near the top in every defensive category.
