Volleyball cruises to 3-0 victory over Christian Brothers

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 20 West Florida volleyball team made quick work against Christian Brothers by handily sweeping them 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-10) Friday evening to avenge a five set loss to the Gulf South Conference foe earlier this season.
The Argonauts (18-7, 11-1 GSC) hit .315 as a team to the Buccaneers’ (14-8, 7-3 GSC) .000 percent, led by Christine Bach (Jacksonville, Fla./Florida State College at Jacksonville) who had nine kills at .615 rate. K.C. Dobbins (Winston-Salem, N.C./Arkansas) and Sierra Hansen (Layton, Utah/Southern Idaho) both reached double-digit assists with 22 and 11, respectively, as did Colleen Starrs (West Bloomfield, Mich./Walled Lake Central HS) and Autumn Duyn (Venice, Fla./Venice HS) in digs with 18 and 10 apiece.
With Christian Brothers leading in the first frame 7-6, UWF fired off four straight points to take the lead and followed up with a 5-0 run for a commanding nine point advantage to take the set 25-16. The Argonauts held a comfortable five point advantage for the majority of the second set to coast to a 25-18 win.
West Florida rattled off five kills and three service aces during a 9-1 spree to open the final set. Five of UWF’s eight aces for the match came in the third frame, with Duyn and Hansen each smashing back-to-back ones. The Argonauts more than doubled their advantage on the way to a 25-10 victory.
