LEXINGTON, Ky. – The West Florida volleyball team stayed among the top 20 for the second week in a row and the third time this season by checking in at No. 19 in Monday’s latest American Volleyball Coaches (AVCA) Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll. This follows a weekend in which the Argonauts clinched the Gulf South Conference Regular Season Championship as well as the No. 1 seed and hosting rights for the GSC Conference Tournament.

UWF swept a weekend of conference play against Christian Brothers, Union and North Alabama to move to 20-7 overall and 13-1 GSC. Potentially, West Florida and Christian Brothers could tie for first by losing and winning out in conference play, respectively, but the Argonauts would win the tiebreaker in games won (5-3) after also tying the Buccaneers in head-to-head record (1-1).

As a result, the Argonauts advanced one spot in the AVCA poll from No. 20 last week. They will also host the GSC Tournament for the third year in a row as the No. 1 seed to go for their fifth straight tournament championship.

West Florida has two GSC matches remaining, one of which will serve as Senior Day this Saturday at 2 p.m. Seniors Haley Shackelford and Christine Bach will be honored prior to the West Alabama match as the final home contest of the regular season.
