Olsson tied for sixth at UAB Fall Beach Blast
No. 21 West Florida is tied for eighth overall

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Elin Olsson led the charge for the No. 21 West Florida women’s golf team on the first day of the UAB Fall Beach Bash Monday and is tied for sixth heading into the final round at The Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club. The Argonauts are tied for eighth after 18 holes of action.
Olsson (Mantorp, Sweden/Bildningscentrum Facetten) carded a six-over-par 78 and is just four strokes out of the lead, held by Southern Mississippi’s Juliana Herrera who ended the first round with 74.
West Florida is tied for eighth with Tennessee Tech in the field of primarily Division I programs after firing 335. Southern Mississippi holds a 12 stroke advantage after the first round, shooting 305 while host UAB is second with 317. Houston Baptist and Austin Peay round out the top five.
Luisa Villar Urquiza (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Saint Mary of the Hills School) and Camila Sevillano (Cali, Colombia/La Arboleda) turned in identical rounds of 85 to tie for 38th overall. Fellow teammate Daisy-May Kenny (Purley, England/Woodcote HS) is two shots back tied for 44th with 87, while Aimee Paterson (Sherfield on Loddon, England/Queen Mary's) completes the Argonauts in 51st.
