Rebels End #4 Argonauts Seven-Match Winning Streak

PENSACOLA, Fla. - In a match-up featuring two of the top NCAA Division I and II programs in the country, Division I sixth-ranked Ole Miss blanked Division II fourth-ranked West Florida 7-0 on Friday at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex. West Florida's seven-match winning streak came to an end. The Argonauts now stand at 12-4. Ole Miss improves to 12-2.

Ole Miss won two doubles matches. Alberto Torchia and Eduardo Cavasotti fell to Eric Claesson and Erling Tveit, the 12th ranked duo in Division I, 8-1. The second position doubles match featuring Diego Zorzi and Gael Gaetjens was unfinished.

Ole put four ranked players in the top four positions, while West Florida had two. In the end, Ole Miss won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. In the second position match, 12th ranked Tveit easily won the first set, 6-0, over 45th ranked Torchia. Torchia recovered to win the second set, before falling in the third set.

West Florida will be back on the road this Sunday, Mar. 19. West Florida will face 29th ranked Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
