UWF softball falls to NSU in final game of EC Triton Invitational
West Florida goes 3-for-26 in 6-2 loss to Nova Southeastern

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The University of West Florida softball team fell to Nova Southeastern 6-2 Sunday morning in the final game of the EC Triton Invitational in Clearwater, Fla. The Argonauts managed to put up only three hits in 26 plate appearances and struck out 11 times in the loss to the Sharks.
Nova got things started in the bottom of the third inning as Samira Tanaka hit a two RBI single to left field. Nova added another run in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-0 lead.
West Florida answered in the top of the fourth inning as Audrey Harner came home from third to score on a throwing error by the NSU catcher. West Florida added another run in the top of the sixth inning as Danielle Sanders scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to one run.
NSU extended the lead to four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 6-2 lead and seal the win for the Sharks.
UWF sophomore Taylor Bailey (3-2) was tagged with the loss and allowed eight hits while striking out two.
West Florida will take a break from NCAA competition next weekend as they will scrimmage Gulf Coast Community College. UWF will compete in the Valdosta State Tournament in Valdosta, Ga. on Saturday, Feb. 23. For information on all UWF athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
