Savi and Frattini defeat Alabaster/Kwok 7-5, 6-2.
“All of our doubles teams played great this weekend,” head coach Derrick Racine said. “Felipe and Bruno played a great match in the final. This was a great doubles match; it was really fast, lots of great serving. It was one of those matches that you had to play great on every point to come out with the win.”
Savi also defeated West Alabama’s Nestor Vargas 6-2, 6-4 in the singles semifinal to advance to the USTA/ITA South Region Singles Championship. Savi will face Saint Leo’s Joan Soler in the singles championship match tomorrow at 10 a.m. CT.
“Bruno’s been having a great tournament,” Racine said. “He was the number one seed going in and there is always a lot of pressure when you’re the number one seed. He is playing a really great opponent tomorrow; it’s going to be a great battle.”
