Buckley Receives Argonauts Third Straight Pitcher of the Week Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - West Florida pitching continues to dominate the Gulf South Conference this season. For the third consecutive week, an Argonaut pitcher has earned GSC East Division Pitcher of the Week accolades. Senior Jennifer Buckley earned her second honor in the last three weeks. She became the fourth West Florida pitcher to earn GSC East Division Pitcher of the Week honors.

Buckley was 3-0 with a save at last week's GSC Crossover in Decatur, Ala. She struck out 13 in a 2-1 win over Arkansas-Monticello. Two days later, she limited Delta State to two hits, while striking out seven in the Argonauts 1-0 win. Delta State was batting .324 as a team entering the game. Buckley finished the crossover with 10 strikeouts in a 3-2 victory over Henderson State. In 21 1/3 innings pitched at the crossover, Buckley posted a 0.98 earned run average with 30 strikeouts.

This is the second consecutive season that West Florida has earned four GSC East Division Pitcher of the Week honors. West Florida will be back in action at West Alabama this Friday for a double header beginning at 2:00 p.m.
