No. 11 Argonauts Prepare for Chargers and Statesmen

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Coming off a hard-fought 3-1 win Sunday over Gulf South Conference rival Christian Brothers, 11th ranked West Florida (9-1-1, 3-0 GSC) will continue conference action this weekend at the UWF Soccer Complex. West Florida will host Alabama-Huntsville (3-6-2, 2-0 GSC) on Friday evening and Delta State (5-7-1, 1-1 GSC).
Despite their win on Sunday, West Florida dropped one spot in the latest NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II Men's Soccer poll. West Florida has won four straight and are unbeaten in their last nine games. Defensively, West Florida has not allowed a team to score more than one goal in any match this season. Junior Jimmy McHenry (Tallahassee, Fla./Darton College) leads the Argonauts on offense with 21 points (eight goals, five assists). Senior Felipe Lawall (Sorocaba, Brazil/South Georgia College) has tallied 15 points on four goals and seven assists. West Florida is 6-8-2 all time against Alabama-Huntsville and 2-0 against Delta State.
Alabama-Huntsville started the season 0-6-2, but the Chargers are 2-0-1 in their last three matches. Alabama-Huntsville opened conference play last weekend with a pair of victories over Ouachita Baptist (2-0) and Harding (7-1). Freshman Guilherme Dantas leads the Chargers with 14 points on six goals and two assists. West Florida will be Alabama-Huntsville third match against a ranked opponent this season. Alabama-Huntsville lost to third ranked Lynn (1-0) and #25 Rollins (7-3) in consecutive matches earlier this season.
Delta State will face conference foe Montevallo on Friday before facing off against the Argonauts in Pensacola on Sunday. This will be the Statesmen second match against a ranked opponent. Delta State dropped a 2-0 match to third ranked Lynn on Sept. 11.
Friday's match against Alabama-Huntsville will begin at 7:30 p.m. while the start time for Sunday's match against Delta State will be 3:00 p.m.
