UWF Runners Qualify for Nationals
PENSACOLA, FLA - The 2005 University of West Florida spring sports season is not over. Argonaut track athletes Ramad Hicks and Michael Padilla have slid under the radar. While the spotlight shined brightly on several UWF spring sports teams this season, Hicks and Padilla are quietly making history.
For the first time since joining the NCAA Division II, West Florida track will be represented at the National Track Meet in Abilene Christian's Elmer Gray Stadium in Abilene, TX on May 26-28.
Hicks qualified for the 800 meter race by shattering the UWF record at the Florida State Relays with a time of 1:51.64. A time that seeds him 11th. Padilla qualified for the 1500 meter race. He also broke the school record at the FSU Relays with a time of 3:50.71. Padilla is seeded 13th at Nationals.
