ARGOS SHUTDOWN STATESMEN

Improve to 3-1-1 in GSC play

Pensacola, Fla. -- The No. 19 University of West Florida men's soccer team got back on track Sunday afternoon as they took down GSC rival Delta State, 3-0. Three different Argonauts scored in the offensive onslaught and the defensive collected their fifth shutout of the season in the Argos big GSC victory.

Rafael Segal put the Argos on top in the second minute when he deflected a Matt Williams shot into the back of the net for the first goal of the match. Richard Dixon tacked on his third goal of the season when he put a loose ball infront of the net into goal to put the Argos up by two at the half.

Williams, who already recorded an assist in the match, scored the lone second half goal in the 59th minute. He took a cross from the left side and put it past Delta State keeper Trey Jones for the third and final goal of the match.

West Florida dominated the shot count 24-5, eight of those shots being on frame.

The Argos remain at home this week and will take on Concordia College next Friday at 5pm CT in a non-conference matchup.
