West Florida in Contention at GSC Championships
HOT SPRINGS, AR - The nationally sixth ranked Argonauts are 11 shots off the lead, and in second place at the Gulf South Conference Championships halfway through the tournament. The six team field played out the first 18 of 36 holes this afternoon at the Hot Springs Country Club Majestic Course. The second ranked Central Arkansas is in first place through day one.
West Florida was led by Sarah Nicholson's 73. She is in second place individually to Central Arkansas's Lisa Olson, who shot a 72. Clara Fornella shot a 77 (5th), and Jackie Gonzalez shot a first round score of 80 (7th). Loren Fortage is in a tie for 11th with a score of 84. Victoria Jackson rounds out the UWF roster with an 88 score good for a tie for 15th.
As a team , UWF shot a 314. Lincoln Memorial stands in third (340), while Arkansas Tech finished the day in fourth (343). Montevallo is fifth (402), and Christian Brothers is sixth (473).
The tournament resumes tomorrow at 10:00 am.
