NEW ORLEANS, La. – The West Florida men’s golf team shot carded a 300 in the final round of the Mardi Gras Invitational on Tuesday morning, placing fourth overall with a final score of 896. The Argonauts were 13 strokes behind the host and winner University of New Orleans (301-298-284--883).
Sophomore Otto Bonning (Skanor, Sweden/Sundsgymnasiet) posted a final round of 72 to finish tied for ninth (74-74-72--220) overall. Sophomore Kyle Scott (Edenvale, South Africa/Edenglen HS) also performed well, finishing tied for 12th at 222 (70-78-74).
Rafael Rodriguez Larreta (Montevideo, Uruguay/Pocitos Day School) shot a 225 to place 22nd (73-76-76), and fellow freshmen Ryan Black (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Lincoln Park Academy) and Jake Bradley (Milton, Fla./Pace HS) followed in 34th and 77th place, respectively. Black shot a final round 78 to finish at 229, and Bradley followed with a final round of 83 to tally 251 for the tournament.
New Orleans won the team title, and UNO’s Ken Looper (72-74-68--214) claimed individual medalist honors. Southeastern Louisiana was the runner-up at 887 (297-292-298).
