HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The No. 18 West Florida women’s golf team held its ground in the final round of the Southern Miss Lady Eagle Invitational on Tuesday, carding a 318 to finish tied for fifth place. Junior Natalia Espinosa (Bogotá, Colombia/Colegio Nueva Granada) led UWF and finished tied for seventh at nine over par 151 (75-76).
Sophomore Bhavna Shetty (Mysore, India/Sadvidya HS) came in at 17th place at 157 (75-82), six strokes behind Espinosa. Sophomores Meaghan Gulliksen (Daytona Beach, Fla./Seabreeze HS) and Tara Steakin (Wellington, Fla./Wellington HS) tied for 27th at 163, and senior Rachel Williams (Daytona Beach, Fla./Kennesaw State/Seabreeze HS) rounded out the UWF lineup at 166 (83-83).
Host Southern Mississippi took the team title, carding a 597 (295-302). Belmont’s Lorie Warren was the top individual, taking medalist honors with a 143 (71-72).
