Kane and Harter Lead #20 Argonauts to Victory


PENSACOLA, FlA. – Dawn Kane was the first runner to cross the finish line, and Margaret Harter finished second, three seconds behind Kane, as 20th ranked West Florida defeated Spring Hill and Montevallo Saturday morning at the Escambia County Equestrian Center. West Florida finished with 20 points, followed by Spring Hill’s 61 and Montevallo’s 69. This was the last regular season race before next Saturday’s Gulf South Conference Championships in Memphis, Tenn.

Kane finished the two-mile run with a time of 12:10. Harter was right behind her at 12:13. Five other Argonauts also earned top 10 finishes. Nicole Stanley was in fourth place with a time of 12:29. West Florida posted the sixth, seventh and eighth places. Diana Sitar’s time of 12:37 was good for sixth, while Kim Gallagher finished seventh at 12:40. Naomi Evangelista’s time of 12:45 placed her eighth. Lindsey Failing finished 10th with a time of 12:50.

Frency Ramos finished 12th with a time of 13:01, while Kim Burgess placed 13th at 13:19. Rebecca Thielemann’s time of 13:49 was good for 17th place.
