ARGOS START BLUE VS. GREEN WORLD SERIES
The West Florida baseball team has reached their final week of fall team practices. This week they will compete against each other in the annual Blue vs. Green World Series. Argonaut assistant coaches Kyle Brown (Blue) and Pat Cottrell (Green) will be the skippers for the two teams.
Coach Brown’s Blue team consists of seniors like Dustin Lawley (Wallace State CC – Hanceville), Greg Pron (Daphne HS), Eric Kroll (Pace HS), Daniel Vargas-Vila (Wallace CC – Dothan), Shane Waller (Northwest Florida State College), and Zach North (Nova Southeastern University). Coach Brown also has two new exciting left handed pitchers in junior Ben Hawkins (Wallace State-Hanceville Community College) and freshman Kevin Peters (Orlando, Fla.). “I feel like I have a great pitching staff that will smother their offense and I have some good hitters that will put up numbers” said Coach Brown when he was asked about his team.
Coach Cottrell’s Green team has seniors like Brandon Brewer (Apopka HS), Zach Taylor (Wallace State CC-Hanceville), Tyler Hastings (Niceville HS), Dustin Brenton (Central Alabama CC), and Jason Postill (Tallahassee CC). The green team also has some new players shining on the practice field to watch for in juniors Taye Larry (Panama City, Fla), Leo Lamarche (Miami, Fla.), Kenny Stalls (Central Florida CC), and Randall Sheffield (Panama City, Fla.). “I have a great offensive lineup that will put crooked numbers on the board and a pitching staff the will get us back in the dugout fast” said Coach Cottrell when asked about his team.
The Blue vs. Green World Series will be all week long at Jim Spooner field starting at 2:30 p.m. For information on all UWF athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
