PENSACOLA, Fla. – The postseason has arrived for the West Florida cross country and soccer teams, as both prepare for the GSC championships this weekend. Each of the UWF men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball teams have clinched regular season titles, and they will be looking for tournament championships and NCAA berths in the coming weeks.
ARGONAUTS OF THE WEEK
Noha Saleh
Women’s Soccer
Senior Defender
Saleh led the Argos defense to two shutouts last weekend. The UWF back line had another stellar weekend, allowing just two shots against Lambuth on Friday and just five against Thomas on Sunday. Saleh has started all 18 games this season, and she ranks third on the team with 1,323 minutes as a field player. The defender has also added three assists and attempted seven shots.
Marquel Waldron
Men’s Soccer
Junior Defender
Marquel Waldron led the UWF defense to another solid weekend, as UWF held Lambuth to one goal on Friday and shut out Thomas (Ga.) on Sunday. On Friday versus Lambuth, the Argos allowed nine shots and three on goal, and on Sunday the Argos shut out Thomas and allowed the Night Hawks to attempt eight shots and three on goal. Waldron ranks second on the team in minutes played this year (1,450), and he has also scored two goals with five assists.
