ARGOS TAME NO. 24 SAINT LEO 3-0

Will Henderson Scored a Goal and Tallied an Assist

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The West Florida men’s soccer team defeated regional opponent No. 24 Saint Leo 3-0 on a windy Saturday night at the UWF Soccer Complex. With the victory the Argos improve to 5-2-2.

The Argos controlled the pace in the first half out shooting the Lions 7-2. Hector Vega (Jacksonville, Fla./Mandarin HS) got West Florida on the board, 1-0,  in the 39th minute when he gathered up a loose ball inside the box and ripped it in the lower right corner.

UWF kicked their offense into another gear in the second half. Will Henderson (Orange Park, Fla./Orange Park HS) scored his first goal of the season in the 51st minute off a header flicked into the box from Matthew Aldred (Eastbourne, England/Loughborough (St. Bede's Senior School), Jack Salafrio (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) also tallied an assist on the goal. Henderson continued his solid play and recorded an assist on West Florida’s third goal one minute later. He crossed a ball to the back post on a corner kick and Kyle Sealy (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Charles W. Flanagan HS) headed his first goal of the season past the keeper, giving the Argos a 3-0 lead.

The Argos were able to hold onto their three goal lead and upset No. 24 Saint Leo 3-0. The Argos will be back in action Friday October 7 against Ouachita Baptist for homecoming. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. For information on all UWF Athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
