UWF MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAMS HOLD STEADY IN THE TOP 5 IN THE SOUTH REGION

UWF Women Remain No. 3, UWF Men’s Team Stays at No. 4 in the South Region

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The University of West Florida women’s team remains at No. 3 in the South Region, while the UWF men’s team stayed at No. 4 in the South in the regional Campbell’s/ITA College Tennis Rankings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced today. The UWF women are currently No. 8, while the UWF men listed at No. 7 in the nation. New national rankings will be released on Feb. 29th.

New team rankings were the only regional rankings released for the South Region today. On the women’s side, Barry tops the region, with Lynn listed at No. 2 and West Florida coming in at No. 3. Rollins and Florida Southern, which UWF defeated 7-2 earlier this season, round out the top five, respectively. Saint Leo is currently No. 6, followed by Palm Beach Atlantic at No. 7 and Florida Institute of Technology at No. 8. Nova Southeastern is No. 9 and Gulf South Conference (GSC) foe North Alabama is No. 10. West Florida will face Barry on March 19th, Lynn on March 20th and Rollins on March 21st. The Argos will face Nova Southeastern on March 17th and will travel to North Alabama on March 10th.

On the men’s side, GSC opponent Valdosta State is listed at No. 1 in the South. Barry is No. 2, while Lynn is No. 3 and West Florida is No. 4. Rollins currently holds the No. 5 spot. UWF will face Barry on March 19th, Lynn on March 20th and Rollins on March 21st. Saint Leo is No. 6, while Florida Southern, which the Argos defeated 8-1 earlier this season, came in at No. 7. Palm Beach Atlantic, Delta State and Florida Tech round out the top 10 in the South, listed at Nos. 8, 9 and 10 respectively.

The UWF tennis teams return the courts on Saturday and Sunday in Columbus, Ga. On Saturday, both UWF teams will face Armstrong Atlantic in neutral site matches at 10 a.m. ET. Armstrong Atlantic is No. 3 in the nation in both the men’s and women’s rankings. On Sunday, the No. 7 UWF men will face No. 9 Columbus State and the No. 8 UWF women will face No. 12 Columbus State.
