WEST FLORIDA LEADS GSC CHAMPIONSHIPS AFTER FIRST ROUND

Sevillano Shoots Tournament-Best 80 in First Round

CALERA, Ala. – The West Florida women’s golf team leads the Gulf South Conference Championships after the first round on Monday at Timberline Golf Club.  The Argonauts (333) had three of the top four golfers after the first round, including freshman Camila Sevillano (Cali, Colombia/La Arboleda) in first place.

Sevillano had a steady first round to pace the field at 80, highlighted by a tournament-best 12 pars.  Senior Jenny Lines (Birmingham, Ala./Spring Hill) was two strokes back and alone in second place at 82, and she led the field with two birdies.

Freshman Aimee Paterson (Sherfield on Loddon, England/Queen Mary's) shot an 83 to finish the day tied for third, and junior Agustina Cocha (Salta, Argentina/Colegio Santa Maria) is alone in eighth place after an 88.

UWF’s 333 in the first round led the three-team field, followed by West Georgia (350) in second place and Christian Brothers (379) in third.  West Georgia’s Taylor Casebere and CBU’s Lauren Harrett were the only non-West Florida players in the top five, as they tied with Paterson for third at 83.

The second and final round will tee off on Tuesday morning starting at 9:10 a.m. CT.  For information on all UWF Athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com.
