UWF REMAINS IN NATIONAL RANKINGS IN FINAL WEEK OF REGULAR SEASON

Argos No. 16 in College Baseball Lineup Rankings

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The West Florida baseball team remained in the Division II College Baseball Lineup national rankings at No. 16, it was announced this week.  The Argos are coming off a 3-0 week with wins over Spring Hill and West Georgia, and they will bring their 31-13 record into their final games of the regular season at Valdosta State this weekend.

Tampa remained at the top spot in the CBL rankings, followed by fellow South Region members No. 8 Lynn, No. 9 Delta State, No. 10 North Alabama and No. 11 Nova Southeastern.  West Florida at No. 16 gives the region six teams in the CBL top 30.

Meanwhile in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper national coaches’ poll, the Argonauts improved one spot to No. 25 in Division II.  Mount Olive tops the CBN poll, followed by St. Mary’s and Tampa tied for second.  No. 7 Lynn, No. 9 Delta State, No. 12 Nova Southeastern and No. 22 North Alabama also cracked the top 30 from the South Region.

The Argos (31-13, 10-9 GSC) are coming off a 3-0 week, picking up wins over Spring Hill and West Georgia.  One more week remains in the regular season, as the Argos travel east to face rival Valdosta State (23-16, 12-8) in a three-game series on April 28-29.  VSU is in fourth place in the league standings, while West Florida is in sixth.  The Argos will look to move up in the standings to earn a higher seed for the GSC Tournament on May 4-8 in Rome, Ga.
