UWF alum and former women's basketball standout Jessie Ivey completed her fourth season at UWF in 2015-16, where she has helped guide the Argos to a 62-51 record, the 2014 Gulf South Conference championship and two NCAA Tournament appearances.

She served as a graduate assistant for two years prior to her full-time appointment and was promoted to recruiting coordinator in May of 2015.

Prior to the start of the 2015-16 season, the 29-year-old from nearby Jay, Florida participated in the WBCA’s 2015 Center for Coaching Excellence that was held in Atlanta. She also participated in the Assistant Coaches Leadership Workshop in Quantico, Virginia.

In April of 2016, she was named the recipient of the inaugural Division II Assistant Coach of the Year Award, presented by the WBCA.

Since 2010, UWF has appeared in the GSC Tournament five times. During the 2013-14 campaign, the Argos finished with at least 19 wins in a season for the seventh time in school history, advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time and won its first Gulf South Conference Tournament Championship in school history. In 2014-15, UWF finished with 20 wins and advanced to the NCAA Tournament semifinals.

Ivey is currently serving a three-year term on the WBCA Assistant Coaches Committee which assists in the planning of the assistant coaches programming for the WBCA National Convention, among other duties.

As a player, Ivey was a strong contributor as a forward for UWF from 2005-10, including a medical redshirt season in 2008-09.

Ivey played a vital role on the team, seeing time on the perimeter and in the post.  She started all 28 games as a senior, averaging 5.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 23.0 minutes per game.  Ivey finished the year with an excellent 81.5 free throw percentage.  She also scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against West Georgia for her first career double-double.  For her career, she shot 30.4 percent from three-point territory and 82.5 percent from the charity stripe.

Before coming to UWF, Ivey starred for nearby Jay High School, where she is the school’s third all-time leading scorer with 1,616 points.

Not only has Ivey coached at UWF, but she led the Pensacola Flames, an AAU 16-U team in 2009-10.  She also worked with the Mainland Basketball Association in running camps in Tokyo in the summer of 2012, and the C.A.E.O.S. Foundation, Inc. named her the association’s Southeast Coordinator.

Ivey graduated from UWF in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Health, Leisure and Exercise Science and a minor in Sports Psychology, and she finished her master’s in Health, Leisure and Exercise Science in 2012.
