JACKSON, Tenn. – The West Florida men's basketball team fell 82-63 at Union (Tenn.) in Gulf South Conference play on Saturday. The Argonauts were led by senior
Lendward Griffin, who scored 20 points with nine rebounds. UWF fell to 7-18, 3-16 GSC with the loss, and the Bulldogs improved to 18-7, 12-7.
Griffin (Jacksonville, Fla.) poured in 20 points to lead UWF, as he was 7-for-11 from the field and 6-for-9 at the free throw line.
Deangelo Legrier (Orlando, Fla.) and
Erin Straughn (Pensacola, Fla.) also scored in double digits for the Argos; Legrier totaled 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Straughn added 14 points and a team-high four assists.
The Argos shot 45.5 percent from the field, but they were just 1-for-15 from three-point territory. UWF did finish ahead in the rebound count at 41-28.
Marterrace Brock led Union with a game-high 22 points and five assists, and he also added eight rebounds. Corieon Pearson chipped in with 19 points and Jordan Montgomery added 16. The Bulldogs committed only three turnovers as a team, while UWF had 16.
The Argos will be back in action at home this week hosting West Georgia on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. and West Alabama on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. For information on all UWF athletics, visit
