Hicks comes to Pensacola armed with a remarkable volleyball resume after a dazzling collegiate career at Abilene Christian University. During her tenure at the NCAA Division II institution, Hicks wasted no time in becoming one of the greatest players in school history as she occupied the No. 1 spot in the Lone Star Conference in terms of blocks per game (1.33) in her first season as a collegian.
The front row expert subsequently parlayed her stellar freshman campaign into a career for the ACU record books. Through her four year stint with the Wildcats, she was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year on three occasions while earning a pair of All-American distinctions during her junior and senior years.
A terror at the front of the net, Hicks registered 607 blocks in her career – a mark that has her sitting in second place in the ACU record books. As a junior, Hicks racked up 190 rejections which was the best single-season mark in the history of ACU volleyball. From 2007-2009, Hicks ranked among the top five players in all of Division II in terms of blocks per set, leading the pack with a mark of 1.58 as a junior. Hicks was also honored as the ACU Female of the Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of that season.
She capped off her days as a collegiate athlete by leading her squad to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament while leading the Hawks in kills (315), blocks (161), points per set (3.61) and hitting percentage (.320).
A three-time LSC All-Academic Team member, Hicks obtained her bachelor’s degrees in management and marketing from Abilene Christian University in 2010 while serving as the Honor Woman of ACU’s 2010 graduating class. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at UWF.
