Matt Rowley began his work at the University of West Florida in the summer of 2008. Rowley leads the UWF athletic communications office in its coverage of all 14 varsity athletic teams, including media relations, press releases, publications, statistics, and the maintenance of West Florida’s official athletics website, GoArgos.com.
Since his arrival at UWF, Rowley has expanded the department’s online presence with improvements to GoArgos.com in October 2008 and again in October 2012. He helped launch the department’s social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram, and the department’s Facebook page now has over 4,500 likes and the Twitter page has over 2,000 followers. The athletic communications staff also coordinates over 200 live audio and video broadcasts per year on GoArgos.com.
UWF athletics has hosted numerous postseason events during Rowley’s time, and he has led the department’s media relations efforts during those tournaments:

Rowley came to UWF after two years at Rollins College, where he was an assistant director of athletic communications from 2006-2008. His primary responsibilities at Rollins included being the primary media relations contact for men's and women's soccer in the fall and baseball in the spring. He assisted in hosting numerous events, including the 2006 Sunshine State Conference Championships in men’s soccer and the 2007 and 2008 Rollins College Baseball Week.
In addition to his duties at Rollins, Rowley worked on behalf of the Sunshine State Conference for two years at the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Soccer Championships held at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. During the summer of 2007, he was also an official scorekeeper for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs of the Florida Collegiate Summer League.
Rowley’s athletic communications career began in the fall of 2005 working for the offices of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif. and California State University, Los Angeles. He helped cover football, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball and men's and women's basketball at Cal Lutheran and was the official scorekeeper for baseball in the spring. He worked at basketball and volleyball events at Cal State L.A., including the NCAA Division II Pacific Regional in women's volleyball.
Rowley is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and he has also served as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II South Region Coordinator since 2008.
Rowley was born in Camarillo, Calif., and he graduated from Drury University in Springfield, Mo. in May 2005, earning a Bachelor of Arts in sports management. He lives in Pensacola with his wife Adrian, and in his spare time he enjoys watching movies and following the Los Angeles Dodgers.
